The NFL's Annual Spring League Meeting is underway in Minnesota.
A big piece of news dropped Tuesday when NFL teams voted to allow player participation in flag football in the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Wednesday's news included a pair of interesting nuggets.
The first was that an initiative to remove the Tush Push failed to garner enough support with only 22 votes. That is two short of the 75 percent (24 teams) needed to pass.
The infamous play has been a staple of Philadelphia's offense in recent years as a successful quarterback sneak.
As for Detroit's playoff seeding proposal, it was withdrawn for consideration.
The Lions had introduced a proposal where the seven playoff teams in each conference will be seeded by their record rather than which teams win their respective division or claim Wild Card spots.
This format would have impacted the Chargers in 2024 as they went 11-6 but went on the road to play the 10-win Texans.
And in the NFC, the Vikings would have been the No. 3 seed in 2024 rather than being the fifth seed.
Under the withdrawn format, the Bolts would have hosted Houston in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs.
Detroit's proposal included that tiebreakers are determined by whether a team is a division champion and not a possible head-to-head result.
NFL owners also voted to tweak the league's onside kick rule Wednesday as teams can now declare an onside kick at any point in the game. The previous rule limited onside kick attempts to the fourth quarter.
Lastly, the NFL announced a "Protector of the Year Award" in the 2025 season for the league's top offensive lineman. The winner will be decided on by a panel of former offensive linemen.
